For NG Nordic, the laboratory is a central part of the business. The company works to manage and treat waste from industry and society – materials that need to be analyzed, classified, and followed up in a structured and reliable manner. The laboratory's results provide important support for daily operations as well as for the company's environmental work and reporting.

The laboratory is accredited according to ISO/IEC 17025 and is responsible for chemical control of incoming waste, internal process flows, and environmental samples related to emissions to air and water. The requirements for traceability, documentation, and reliability are high – and continue to increase in line with both regulatory requirements and the development of the business.

– Without reliable analyses, we cannot make the right decisions or meet our commitments. That is why the laboratory's work is so crucial for the entire operation, explains Sara Backlund.

A focus on quality and long-term sustainability

In recent years, NG Nordic has systematically worked to strengthen the laboratory's structure and working methods. The organization has developed, roles have been clarified, and the work with quality systems, audits, and methodologies has gained a clearer place in daily operations. The next step is to further broaden the expertise. For example, the growing societal problem of PFAS will present new, exciting areas for development.

The expansion means that the laboratory will grow from seven to nine positions. The analytical chemist will have a role that combines operational analytical work with method and quality development. The work is clearly anchored in the daily laboratory operations, where analyses are performed, instruments are maintained, sample flows are managed, and deviations are followed up – while methods are validated, improved, and adapted as needed.

Examples of tasks

• Participate in the reception, registration, and handling of internal and external analyses.
• Perform chemical analyses of waste, process flows, and environmental samples.
• Ensure quality, traceability, and documentation in the analytical work according to ISO/IEC 17025.
• Work with analysis and method validation in an accredited laboratory.
• Participate in troubleshooting, method improvements, and technical discussions.
• Manage and follow up deviations and participate in internal and external audits.
• Collaborate closely with colleagues in daily laboratory work.

Are you the one we are looking for?

To succeed in this role, you have:

• A university degree in analytical chemistry or equivalent, preferably with a master's degree.
• Experience in instrumental analysis and working according to quality systems.
• A good understanding of method development, validation, and assessment of analytical results.
• Experience or interest in driving improvement and development work in a laboratory environment.
• A structured, meticulous working style and a good ability to collaborate.

It is an advantage if you have knowledge of PFAS analysis, e.g., UPLC/GC-MS/MS.
